Intermediate Willow Basket Workshop

Service Description

This 2 day hands-on workshop is designed for intermediate weavers and those who already know the basics of willow weaving and would like time, guidance, and space to deepen their skills. It’s ideal if you’ve woven before and want to refine your technique, practise with support, or work through areas you’ve found tricky, with an experienced teacher on hand. This workshop focuses on round and oval baskets. A separate square and rectangular basket workshop will be running later in the year. You’re welcome to make any round or oval basket you’d like, or to use the day to practise specific techniques such as bases, borders, shaping, handles, or overall structure. If you already have something in mind, please let me know what you’d like to make when booking so I can prepare the right willow and materials for you. If you’re not sure what you’d like to make, a round or oval style can be suggested on the day, or we can chat beforehand and choose something based on your experience. All tools and materials are provided, including high-quality Somerset-grown willow. I’ll guide you throughout the day with demonstrations, practical advice, and plenty of one-to-one support tailored to your experience and goals. Workshops run from 9:30am to 4pm, with small group sizes to ensure a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and plenty of individual guidance. Tea, coffee, biscuits, and cake are provided throughout the day — please just bring your own lunch.
